In terms of brands though, I'm not arsed that I now drive a Skoda.
All three cars have been competent but the BMW was (obviously) the nicest to drive due to it's straight 6 engine and RWD. I am largely agnostic about car brands, I just like what I can afford that goes fast, it just so happens the Germans make a lot of fast stuff, quite happy with Fords, had a Nissan 350Z, Citroens whatever, jsut different priorites and what I like, some people like brands, doesnt mean they are worng.This resonates for me a little bit as I've gone from an M135i to a B9 Audi A4 to a Skoda Octavia vRS 245. I asked as I got a strange reception when I mentioned it to someone, quite a few realised the value, and how much more pleasant the top spec Superb would be over a bog spec A1 but quite a few wouldnt not be seen dead in a Skoda, their ego could not comprehend it, even though they know they are ok and basically made from a lot of the same stuff they just arent high enough in the pecking order to meet with their approval, the car is fine, but the brand isnt good enough. Get one in L&K spec for that knowledge that you've got enough money for a nice car, but don't really want to shout about it.I quite like Skodas but a lot of folk who buy Audi and BMW etc wouldn't be seen dead in one as was thinking of getting the 280 bhp Superb, I asked on Facebook whether people would go for a top spec Skoda Superb or a base spec Audi A1 if given a choice, no cash alternative, just either car to use for a year.
He should just get a new Skoda then? They're rather good these days.
